Making solid air freshener for your home is a simple project.
Using unseasoned gelatin, sesame oil, salt and water, you can create a solid air freshener comparable to a commercial gel.
This recipe produces about two cups of solid air fresheners, stored in small cans and can be placed anywhere in the home.
Boil a cup of spring water or distilled water in a medium pan-high heat. Add four (1 oz. )
Pack unseasoned gelatin into boiling water.
Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved, then remove the pan from the heat.
Add a cup of room temperature spring or distilled water to the gelatin mixture.
Mix evenly. Add 15-
Select 20 drops of fragrant oil, 2-
3 drops of edible pigment if needed.
Stir well until the oil and color combine well with gelatin.
Adjust the smell and color now as needed.
Add more oil if you want a stronger scent, and add more food colors if you want a darker color.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the mixture and stir well.
Make sure it is completely blended together before proceeding.
Pour the air freshener into a small glass jar.
Baby food cans work fine, but you can use anything at hand, like the old candle holder.
Place the jar in the refrigerator until the solid air freshener is set, about 1-2 hours.
Remove the jar and place it anywhere you need an air freshener.
